Asta Samanta Gineth Harsten is a wonderful woman, and a fantastic example of what weight training can do with the female body. Read on, you will be amazed!
So, what is the fuzz about?
It’s all about Asta’s fight. Its all about Asta having the willpower of a Champion, and showing enormous dedication through tough times. It all started after two pregnancies and a pelvic prolapse problem that even had Asta tied up in a wheel chair for quite some time. She had packed on well over 45 pounds (20 kg) and her medical condition tore her apart bit by bit psychologically. As you can imagine self-esteem ran low.
Our hero started her journey to Fitness-goddessdom with overcoming the pelvic prolapse issue. It took a good six months with intense physical therapy to get out of the chair, throw crutches away and take on a more normal life. Asta had already shown her fighter spirit as the Physios remarked that her recovery was remarkably quick given her starting point.
Asta did see no reason to stop at that! Oh no, not this girl! She was to be married in 2010, and three months before the big day she swore to rid herself of some of the overweight. She started going for walks and controlled her energy intake. In 2.5 months 17.5 lbs (8 kg) were lost. From here she started training more regularly at her local gym. Everything looked rosy!
Then another setback hit. Training hard, taking care of her two lovely kids and work had taken its toll. She ended up with a Stomach Ulcer as well as Myalgia. The pounds lost sneaked back on relentlessly. Asta was in desperate need of change, yet again.
Enough came to be enough, and Asta again rose to the occasion. This time motivated to take a more clever approach to the problem. She spent time building a base for strength. Slowly, surely and one step at a time her body started to respond. She did however realize she needed help from a pro. Both to secure progress, but also to make sure she didn’t overdo it. Fitness athletes had always fascinated Asta. She had also very much dreamed of becoming one herself. She contacted coach Gunnar at Kaliber Fkk. He accepted her as a client, and the rest is history.
Weight Training session after Weight training session overseen by Gunnar took Asta closer to the fitness stage. In September 2012 she made it there. The feeling of accomplishment must have made her the happiest competitor that day! Obviously, having tasted success the lovely Asta was ready for more. She already competed in the Fredrikstad Open (April 2013). And she is at the time of writing getting ready for the Oslo GP. This time her training is overlooked by another coach; Edmund. Have a look at her T-Walk (very hot!!) at this link.
A few words from her mouth
Few problems get solved by them self. The root of the problem must more often than not be dealt with. Believe in your self and your abilities. Read up on training and nutrition. Set goals, then go reach them. Asta finishes by saying: “I believe in every single one of you, even if I don’t know you. Take baby steps, but start today! Follow your dreams. Turn negativity into positivity by looking forward and envisioning that sweet, sweet success.”
