How to do squats? Yeah, I know: There are a lot of guys and girls out there who think they can do perfect squats. Unfortunatley the majority of them don’t. At least not from a functional, and maximum strength point of view. A lot of bodybuilders and people with at least one leg in the fitness camp have come up with several variations of this very raw and brutal exercise that supposedly is better at adding muscle mass than the powerlifting version of the lift.
The scope of this article is not to argument powerlifting style suqats are better than any other (allthough I do think so). This will be discussed in other articles. The scope of this is article is simply just showing a decent example of doing powerlifting squats.
Andre Midtby is lifting for Oslo SK. Andre is also very much part of Team MyoRevolution. He is a seriously promising junior lifter from Norway. He came in 5th at the World Championship in Prague of 2013, and there he did a massive 305kg squat (672.5 lbs). He has been kind enough to create this video example of how to do squats for you. I advise you to watch it a few times to get the message drilled in. You won’t regret it.
