A lot of people find it really hard to lose those extra pounds that are needed to be satisfied. Most of you if, not all of you want to do it really quick as well. It often collapses because of lost motivation or lack of patience.
It’s not rare at all that I get a mail from a client after 2-3 weeks in on a program with a very concerned question like: I have only lost 1 pound in 3 weeks of exercising and proper dieting, this isn’t working!!? First of all, how long did it take to gain all those extra pounds? You think it’s going to be quicker than that with less effort? Don’t think so. Rome wasn’t built in a day!
It takes time and just like I wrote in an earlier article, you don’t need to be all-in. Take it slow, step by step. For example: improve your diet Monday-Friday and let it all go in the weekends. Start walking to work/school instead of taking the bus/train or the car, use the stairs instead of the lift and so on…
Are you going through this tough period for the right reasons? This is a very important aspect. Why are you doing it? I promise you if it’s not you who want to change it, it won’t work in the long run that’s for sure. I hear people like all the time, “my girlfriend wants me to lose a few pounds”, “my boyfriend is in great shape and I’m going to start exercise as well so that he doesn’t dump me for a hotter girl.” Those kinds of reasons are not healthy in the long run. Those are great motivation starters but that’s about it.
It takes time to build a dream body, take it slow and appreciate the small changes along the way. Your training should be a long and bumpy journey but in the end should it all be worth it!
Tip of the day: Throw the scale out the window and start taking pictures once a week!
Keep on smiling!
