To keep going with heavy workouts and a healthy lifestyle requires motivation. It’s both physically and psychologically stressful to constantly strive to become stronger and fitter.
What is motivation really?
Motivation can be defined as why we act as we do and why we choose to do some things rather than others. You can say that motivation is an inner drive to want or desire to achieve something. We are a very simple kind and we need the understanding of why we do what we do to keep going.
Motivation and goal setting often goes hand in hand and you need both to succeed. Without motivation, it becomes incredibly hard to achieve your goal and without a goal, motivation can disappear slowly but surely.
What can you do to increase your motivation?
It’s not that easy to stay motivated all the time. Don’t go full retard if you can’t. Respect the fact things worth achieving are difficult to get, and learn how to enjoy the journey to your goal. Don’t let a few missteps get you down. You lost a battle, so what. Your in it to win the war.
One thing you should consider is how to increase the satisfaction of your inner will. Try to define what it is you really crave. Then define what do you need to satisfy your inner motivations. It will help you stay on the narrow path.
Also spend some extra time on pondering why you do what you do, it will make things much easier for you to see clearly what is needed to get done. If you understand why you hit the gym as often as you do, or why you diet or eat like a horse to gain strength, you will find the motivation for it. If you don’t understand the path you’re on, it’s quite reasonable to believe you will deviate from your plan and disappoint yourself.
We can easily conclude that without motivation, it will be very tough to achieve your goal.
